How the tiers work
One ladder, four stops each.
Stray
Where every character starts — scruffy, unsure, keeping their distance. The look nobody stays at for long, and none of them mind leaving behind.
Settling
Cleaner, a bit more confident. The first sign that a character has decided you're worth sticking around for.
Regular
Coat glossy, fully at ease — waiting by the door before you are. Most of a character's personality is fully visible by here.
Fully themselves
Named after the character, not a generic label — because by this point, they're not settling into anything. This is just who they are.
Hapoo
The one it's all named after. Wet and matted on day one, insufferably pleased with himself by the end.
