Terms of Use

These terms are written to be read, not just filed. By using the app, you're agreeing to the following.

What Hapoo is

Hapoo detects dog walks from your phone's motion data and Apple Health, and turns them into points, levels, streaks and a character network you can meet out in the real world. It is not a medical, veterinary or fitness-coaching product, and it makes no claims about health outcomes.

Not veterinary advice

Nothing in the app — including the optional coach feature — is veterinary advice, and it isn't a substitute for it. Health questions are refused outright rather than answered. If you're worried about your dog, contact a vet.

Your account, or lack of one

There is no account. Progress is tied to your device via a self-generated identifier. If you lose or replace your device without transferring your data first, progress tied to the old device can't be recovered.

Subscriptions

• Renewal. Hapoo+ is an auto-renewing subscription bought through Apple. It renews automatically at the listed price — currently £4.99 a month or £49.99 a year — until you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel any time in your Apple Account settings.
• Refunds. Payments are handled by Apple, so refunds go through Apple too, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• Founding 1000. The Founding 1000 price (£24.99 a year, for the first 1,000 subscribers) applies for as long as that subscription stays active. If it ends, the founding price ends with it.
• The free tier. The number of coach messages included free each month may change.
• Apple's licence. Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to your use of the app, alongside these terms.

Fair use of points and rewards

Points, streaks and badges are meant to reflect real walking. Deliberately falsifying activity (for example, driving at walking speed with the app open to farm points) breaches these terms, and we reserve the right to withhold rewards obtained that way.

The reward catalogue

Some rewards are fulfilled by third-party partners on their own sites, outside the app. Hapoo isn't responsible for a partner's own terms, stock, or fulfilment once you've been redirected to them.

No warranty

Hapoo is provided as-is, in active development, without warranty of any kind. Features, point values and the level ladder may change as the app is tuned.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, the app will say so rather than quietly updating a page nobody reads.
